It is strange how some people do not like to travel too far from home on their vacation while others like to travel as far as possible. Fortunately, there isn’t a corner of the earth that doesn’t have a travel site dedicated to it so it is easy obtaining information on the internet. It is now true that increasing numbers of people carry out all their travel arrangements using internet web sites. Gone are the days when travel agents were popular and sought after as websites have popped up everywhere and promise all of their customer’s extraordinary savings.
This ease doesn’t always hold true however, and I have never been one to trust my entire vacation to a computerized travel site; it just seems a bit too strange to me. While this may be the way to book your holiday now, I still enjoy sitting front of a real person and not a computer screen. There always seems to be much more flexibility with a travel agent and you are able to ask for more details and change your mind with much more ease. It is difficult complaining to a travel site and almost impossible to actually speak to a real person, plus with today’s technology it is almost impossible to say where they are in the world.
Even if you are lucky enough to talk to a person, how do you know they are telling you the truth about the situation? It is because of the number of things that can go wrong I still prefer to use my local travel agent even if it does take a little more time and there may be more to pay. Whereas a good friend of mine only ever books her vacations online and always those advertised at the last minute; probably from cancellations. She is good at this and saves hundreds of dollars of the proper price and has always had a good vacation.
I have to say that I envy here but she has an understanding company that is far more flexible than mine which require more notice for a vacation. If you are flexible though, booking through a travel site could be incredibly worthwhile plus, travel sites offer discount coupons and prices for excursions or miscellaneous items when you book online. Although I actually spend time with my travel agent, I do actually carry out a great deal of research on prospective locations before I make up my mind. I know it may seem unkind after all the help that my travel agent has given me but I know that if I have problems that need correcting when I return, it is easy to go along and see her to have sorted out.
